Silence the mind…
The biggest misconception of meditation is that you need to silence your mind. Good luck with that. This is why most people say they can’t meditate when they are trying to achieve the impossible.
Do not try to silence your mind, simply observe it.
The key is to observe and not judge, just allowing thoughts to pass like water without clinging or holding onto them, not judging the emotions or thoughts that come along and just observe.
What you are doing here is practicing to not judge your thoughts. In doing that for just 5 or 10 mins a day you are going to get better at it which will lead to a happier life throughout the day, because you will no longer cling to thoughts and emotions when they come along, you will simply allow them to pass.
When you have been doing this for a long time you will then notice that the gaps between thoughts gets bigger and over time you will find space between thoughts where you can rest your awareness and this is where you experience the true bliss of the quietening of the mind, but this is not going to happen overnight. Enjoy the journey, practice being in your own head for just 5 mins a day and just observing.
If at any point you feel you are doing it wrong, the only thing you are doing wrong is judging yourself.
